Stages of Cancer

Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4 - the higher the stage number the more advanced the cancer.

Cancer Symptoms and Signs of Cancer

There is no replacement for a regular checkup with your doctor. He /she needs to know about changes in your body. Symptoms can range from none, to slight or severe - all need to be communicated to your doctor. Treatment for Cancer: There are several different ways to treat cancer. Cancer treatment centers have been created for the purpose of specializing in cancer treatment. The treatment of cancer varies depending on the type of cancer, the stage of the cancer and many other factors.

Whether you are looking for Lung Cancer Treatment, Breast Cancer Treatment, Prostate Cancer Treatment or Skin Cancer Treatment you will need a way to assess our options. I have faced those decisions myself, so know how difficult the decision is to make. That is why I developed the Illness Research Log and the Treatment Options Research Logs to:

  • Help put key information on paper that aids in understanding
    • the disease
    • it’s progression
    • Have a way to evaluate the options
    • Make the decisions right for me

To avoid a wrong diagnosis, missed diagnosis or late stage diagnosis it is important that you learn how to track your symptoms and communicate them in a way that helps your doctor think and diagnose quickly and accurately. Learning the best way to communicate and manage your care in today’s medical environment can mean the difference in obtaining an accurate, timely diagnosis with the best cancer treatment plan vs the alternative.

Cancer Diagnosis & Your Personal Health Record

If you have been newly diagnosed, fear you might have cancer or remember when - here are some of the common thoughts and feelings:

  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Wondering:
    • Will my doctor tell me everything I need to know?
    • Will I be able to keep track of everything as I proceed?
    • What kind of care will I receive or not receive?
    • What questions should I be asking?
    • What about my treatment options? They go around and around in my head. How do I decide which is right for me?
    • How will my family know how to help me during this journey? Will they be able to stay on top of things if I can’t do myself?
    • In today’s fragmented, depersonalized and complex medical system, how do I take control at a very stressful time when it’s hard to think straight?

How do I:

  • Obtain the care I need?
  • Know if all the people caring for me are communicating with each other effectively?
  • Make the most of each doctor appointment?
  • Give and receive the right information?
  • Know the right questions to ask?
  • Know I am getting the treatment that is right for me?
  • Keep from being a victim and be the victor?

The questions and concerns are endless.

“Two weeks after I finished Margo’s Savvy Patient School, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. As devastating as it was, I felt a sense of peace because I knew what to do to get the care I need - the information to provide, how to give it, the questions to ask and a way to assess my options. Her system is complete, easy to use and such a valuable tool.”

Cathy, TN
