Cancer Diagnosis & Your Personal Health Record
If you have been newly diagnosed, fear you might have cancer or remember when - here are some of the common thoughts and feelings:
- Feeling overwhelmed
- Wondering:
- Will my doctor tell me everything I need to know?
- Will I be able to keep track of everything as I proceed?
- What kind of care will I receive or not receive?
- What questions should I be asking?
- What about my treatment options? They go around and around in my head. How do I decide which is right for me?
- How will my family know how to help me during this journey? Will they be able to stay on top of things if I can’t do myself?
- In today’s fragmented, depersonalized and complex medical system, how do I take control at a very stressful time when it’s hard to think straight?
How do I:
- Obtain the care I need?
- Know if all the people caring for me are communicating with each other effectively?
- Make the most of each doctor appointment?
- Give and receive the right information?
- Know the right questions to ask?
- Know I am getting the treatment that is right for me?
- Keep from being a victim and be the victor?
The questions and concerns are endless.
“Two weeks after I finished Margo’s Savvy Patient School, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. As devastating as it was, I felt a sense of peace because I knew what to do to get the care I need - the information to provide, how to give it, the questions to ask and a way to assess my options. Her system is complete, easy to use and such a valuable tool.”
