The first form for the book was created when her husband was told he might not live through the night. Margo Corbett, M.A. has a passion for helping people receive the best healthcare possible and prevent  medical errors.


The conclusions reached, opinions expressed in her book and on this website and the "Savvy Patient" Management System are based on the knowledge she gained from patient advocacy and three personal life-threatening experiences  combined with her expertise in total quality and knowledge management, research, process development, procedure writing, storytelling and extensive reading and research.


She has a B.S. in Medical Technology, Master's in Storytelling, is a retired Total Quality / Knowledge Management Trainer & Consultant, and founder of The "Savvy Patient" School.

Margo has volunteered for CareSpark, a non-profit organization at the forefront of developing an Electronic Medical Record that will connect all health entities in NE Tennessee & SW Virginia. She was an observer/adviser to the Consumer Perspective Workgroup of the National Health Information Network (NHIN) (team work concluded in December 2008) working to connect medical records nationwide.

She offers a variety of health care seminars, speaks at national  conferences, to a variety of health and civic organizations, nursing colleges and support groups.
The "Savvy Patient" School offers How to Be A "Savvy Patient" as an 8-hour Self-Directed Online or in person. Lunch & Learn variations are also available for businesses looking to cut healthcare costs.
